Frozen march hares

26 March 2008
Mood: average

Eventually spring has come, and snow with it. The sky has been gray for days now, the Artic cold wandering throught the city, disguised as gusts of wind, while little frozen snowflakes fall without confidence on the people walking. These small snowfalls brighten my day, because I'm sitting inside with my trustworthy cup of tea, and I look at the innocent victims freezing in the streets.

Shortly before the snow

Winter is over, and so are my courses, that I followed them as a studend and as an assistant. Great confusion toward the end, I'm glad I didn't have to hand in assignments or study for exams. Also because I wrote the assignments... The calendar drops also Easter in these days, hence the city is empty, time stops, the gray weather generates apathy. I sit and press F5. I sit and press F5. I cook, eat, sleep, sit again and press F5. Holidays are over swallowed by the passing clouds, and the second semester is here.

No lectures for me in the next months, just research, weird papers to read, stuff to come up with and to write down. My direction is slowly gaining shape: I had to downsize my ideas a bit, ma the general problem is still the same: how do you recognize pattern in the behaviours of a learning system? Heisenberg bonus if the system doesn't learn and adapt to my analysis, Wargames 2x bonus if I find a why to recognize when is not worth to keep going.

Now and then I wonder if I am crazy, but the little voices in my head say “No no, all it's fine, trust us,” and my invisible friends agree, so I suppose I don't have anything to worry about.
